A FORMER office in the city’s west end has been granted permission to become a dessert café.

The premises at 169 Blackness Road has had the change of use sanctioned by Dundee City Council.

Will Dawson convener of the council’s planning committee said: “It is great to see that a building which down the years has had many different uses is being repurposed again to give it another lease of life.”

Lynne Short convener of Dundee City Council’s city development committee added: “This is a fine example of a commercial property in the city being converted for a use that will maximise its potential. I am really pleased that it reflects the bold and ambitious thinking I have been calling for around the way that buildings are used in Dundee.”

The change of use makes it clear that no cooking shall be carried out on the premises with the exception of the preparation and reheating of hot desserts using a waffle maker, crepe pan, blenders and an oven.

It will only be allowed to operate between the hours of 7am and 7pm seven days a week.
