Bus priority measures03/09/20
TEMPORARY MEASURES giving buses priority in Dundee city centre are just around the corner after the council received a funding boost.
A total of £350,000 from Transport Scotland’s Bus Priority Rapid Deployment Fund will deliver reduced bus journey times and support the recovery of a crucial element of the city’s transport network.
Mark Flynn convener of Dundee City Council’s city development committee said: “This funding will allow us to put in bus priority measures at three key gateway junctions coming into and out of the city centre.
“Public transport is an important part of our drive towards a more sustainable mix of getting around that will help to improve the quality of life of everyone in the city.”
Managing Director of Xplore Dundee Christine McGlasson said: “These new measures are extremely welcome because our customers will benefit directly from faster journey times on our services.
“Bus priority is one of the key ways we can beat congestion, making public transport faster and a more attractive travel option. I’m really pleased with this investment and we’re looking forward to working with Dundee City Council on the development of these three projects.”
Measures to give buses priority will be introduced at Westport roundabout, Meadowside and Seagate/Trades lane junction in the coming weeks
