Over £240,000 worth of environmental improvements are proposed to take place at locations within the city, such as Dudhope Park, the East End, and Riverside Drive, with plans to be put to councillors next week.

If approved, adventure trail equipment would be installed at Alloway Terrace, Mossgiel Crescent and Rowantree Crescent in the East End, while planting areas would be improved to three roundabouts on Riverside Drive.

Proposals also include play area gate replacements at six different locations in the city, a variety of works to fencing, benches, a retaining wall and tree & shrub planting at Dudhope Park, as well as security and drainage improvements at Camperdown Park.

Climate, Environment & Biodiversity Committee Convener Heather Anderson said: “The planned works outline a variety of improvements to outdoor assets throughout the city.

“Exciting new Adventure Trail equipment at three locations within the East End will help get more local children outdoors, and generally be positive for their health and wellbeing.

“Elsewhere, the proposals to make hard and soft landscaping improvements and to refresh the planting areas on the Riverside East, Riverside Inn and Riverside Tesco roundabouts will enhance the central islands for anyone traveling along the riverfront.

“It’s important that we continue to invest in the city’s outdoor spaces, ensuring they are attractive places to visit and take in.”

Within the planned works, it is also set out that Birkhill, Barnhill and Eastern cemeteries would see infrastructure improvements, while Western Cemetery received four new benches.

The Climate, Environment & Biodiversity Committee will consider the proposals at its next meeting on Monday 21st August 2023.

Full details of the environmental improvement proposals can be found on the Dundee City Council website.
