Dundee groups recognised at Beautiful Scotland Awards

Groups in Dundee helping communities become more climate and nature friendly have been recognised in this year’s Beautiful Scotland Awards.
Organised by Keep Scotland Beautiful, community groups and volunteers are celebrated and thanked for their efforts to improve their areas and make them a nicer place for people to live, work and visit.
Bonnie Dundee and Ardler Environment Group both received Certificates of Recognition, with Bonnie Dundee being recognised in honour of their nomination to represent Scotland at the RHS Britain in Bloom finals.
Additionally, two further community groups were recognised as they joined three others across Scotland to represent the nation in the inaugural 2024 RHS UK Community Awards. Shiell Street and Queens Street Community Gardens won the Scottish Gardening with Young People category, and Ninewells Community Garden won the Gardening for Health and Wellbeing. The UK results will be announced at the Britain in Bloom UK Awards Ceremony in Manchester on the 21 October.
Climate, Environment & Biodiversity Convener Cllr Heather Anderson said: “It’s wonderful to see Dundee’s volunteers being recognised on the national stage for their hard work. It’s just fantastic that Bonnie Dundee is representing the whole of Scotland in the RHS Britain in Bloom competition. They are such a credit to the city.
“Our city has a strong network of volunteers, organisations, community groups, schools, businesses and the local authority itself which come together to carry out a lot of great work within the city.
“It’s great to see that the Beautiful Scotland judges were impressed by this work. I want to send my congratulations to everyone who has contributed to the wide-ranging work taking place in Dundee.”
Juliette Camburn, Senior Officer, Community Initiatives at Keep Scotland Beautiful, said: “I’d like to wish huge congratulations to our fantastic Dundee groups who were honoured at this year’s Beautiful Scotland awards.
“Every group thoroughly deserves their awards and recognition, and their collective effort is immensely appreciated.”
Thirty-eight groups from across Scotland were presented with Awards and Certificates of Recognition for their efforts to improve, enhance and protect biodiversity and the places they care for and work and live in.
