City Centre Parking Permit Expansion Proposal

More residents could soon be eligible to apply for a city centre parking permit.
A report to the City Growth and Infrastructure Committee recommends expanding eligibility for the scheme to include additional streets.
It is proposed that residents living in properties on the following streets be included within the City Centre Resident Parking Permit Scheme:
• Wishart Place
• Ladywell Avenue
• Johnstone's Lane
• West Port
• Old Hawkhill (east of Hunter Street)
Eligibility for the scheme was originally approved by committee, with any subsequent amendments also requiring committee approval.
Councillors are also being asked to approve a recommendation that the head of sustainable transport and roads be given delegated authority to make minor variations to the scheme in future, while continuing to consult with the convener and relevant elected members.
Committee convener Councillor Steven Rome said:
"We receive requests from residents to be able to join the city centre parking permit scheme and this proposal helps to tidy up some anomalies that have existed.
"Going forward, this new approach will allow more flexibility to make minor adjustments in the future."
The current city centre permit scheme operates on a zonal basis, enabling residents to park close to their home address rather than using permits to park in other parts of the city centre after making short vehicle trips.
Additional flexibility is also required to accommodate residents who own electric vehicles (EVs) and require access to dedicated EV charging infrastructure within the city centre.
Full details of the permit scheme can be found online here
The committee meets on Monday 24 August.
