Officers from the Regulatory Services team investigate complaints of noise arising from a variety of sources involving industrial and commercial units, construction and demolition sites, burglar alarms, generators, barking dogs as well as musical entertainment from within commercial premises.
If you are experiencing a problem with a neighbour causing noise you should in the first instance contact Police Scotland on their Non Emergency telephone number 101.
If you require advice regarding antisocial behaviour by a neighbour causing disturbance to you at home you may contact the Council's Antisocial Behaviour team on 0800 169 3845 or 01382 307342.
All complaints about noise, including musical entertainment noise, originating from licensed premises should be directed to Police Scotland through their Non Emergency telephone number 101, particularly at the time you are being disturbed. This ensures that concerns are logged promptly and assessed by the appropriate authority. Police Scotland has powers under Section 54 of the Civic Government (Scotland) Act 1982, which allows officers to address excessive noise from any location, including licensed premises. These powers enable officers to intervene where noise is causing annoyance to the public, assess the situation directly, and take appropriate action.
Should there be regular disturbance from musical entertainment at a premises, you should contact our team via the email address below to discuss. Please note that you should have reported previous instances to Police Scotland, and will have reference numbers associated with your complaints. Our email address is not for use at the time you are being disturbed by the music noise if you are seeking for someone to attend at that time, you should contact Police Scotland on 101.
