Community Safety

Community Safety tends to mean different things to different people at different times of their lives and can vary considerably from locality to locality. The most commonly accepted definition states that community safety is about "protecting people's rights to live in confidence and without fear for their own and other people's safety" (COSLA).

National Networks

Staff from the Community Safety Team regularly attend the national networks supporting Community Safety in Scotland.

The two key networks attended by staff are the Scottish Community Safety Network and the Scottish Community Warden Network.

Community Safety Wardens

Wardens patrol seven days per week (1.00pm to 10.45pm) 365 days per year. Community Safety Wardens work specifically to target the low level crime and antisocial behaviour that gradually, over time, drags an area down. Things like vandalism, graffiti and litter.
