Report For Week Commencing Monday 4 December 2023

  • Candle Lane (Allan Lane to Dock Street)    

    closed until 15 December 2023 for sewer works/utility connections/retaining wall works for a new housing development.  Ongoing Scottish Water issue is currently being resolved to allow road and footway reinstatement.

  • Rose Lane/Tulloch Crescent/Arthur Street

    closed until 15 December 2023 for structural works as part of forthcoming new housing development.

  • Broomhill Road (Angus Court for 40m northbound)

    closed until end of December 2023 for Optimal Power Networks electricity infrastructure work.

  • Blinshall Street (Douglas Street to 50metres south)

    closed from 27 November 2023 for 6 months for road safety concerns.

  • Brown Street (south of Douglas Street)

     closed until May 2024 for construction works.

  • Seafield Road, Dundee

    closed from its westmost end (in cul-de-sac) extending for a distance of no more than 20 metres in an easterly direction to facilitate a site access for a new housing development.  Commencing Tuesday 22 August 2023 for 15 months.

  • Tay Road Bridge

    closed northbound from Monday 12 June for 6 months for resurfacing and movement joint replacement.  Contraflow on southbound carriageway in operation.

  • Earl Gray Place West (South Crichton Street west for 50m)

    closed until March 2025 for facilitating construction works.

  • Scottish and Southern Energy Networks Lyndhurst Cable Renewal Scheme

    • Harrison Road (at Faraday Street) – closed for one week; and

     

    • Harrison Road/Dalmahoy Drive/Birkdale Place – rolling temporary traffic lights Monday 11 December for one week for completion of joint bays.
  • Scottish and Southern Energy Networks Lochee Cable Renewal Scheme

    closed at Grays Lane (Burnside Street to Whorterbank) for one week.

  • Castle Lane, Broughty Ferry (at its junction with Mill Street/Esplanade)

    closed from Monday 13 November for 5 months for road realignment works.

  • Myrekirk Road Phase 2

    2-way traffic lights from Friday 1 December for 5 days for footway reconstruction works.

  • Scottish and Southern Energy Networks Dudhope Cable Renewal Scheme

    rolling road and lane closures on:

     

    • Dudhope Street (70-84 Dudhope Street to dead end) – closed for 3 weeks; and

     

    • Dudhope Street link footpath (70-84 Dudhope Street to Hilltown) – closed for 3 weeks.

     

    • Hilltown (William Barclay Square to Victoria Road) – closed from Monday 4 December for 3 weeks;
  • Clepington Road at Mains Loan

    Clepington Road closed to east and west of Mains Loan junction with Mains Loan access also closed to north and south of Clepington Road junction until 8 December for various infrastructure improvements for new housing development.

  • Magdalen Yard Road

    closed between Bellfield Avenue and Thomson Street for one week commencing Monday 4 December for sewer connection to new housing development.

     

  • Riverside Avenue (at Wright Avenue)

    temporary traffic lights on Monday 4 December from 6.30pm – 9.30pm for emergency pedestrian crossing repairs.

  • Riverside Avenue (at Swallow roundabout)

    off‑peak (9.30am to 3.30pm) nearside westbound lane closure for 6 weeks for sewer diversion work.

  • Tom Johnston Road (A972 Arbroath Road for 300m northbound)

    closed between Tom Johnson Road and A92 until 11 December for sewer works and access works for new Aldi store development.

  • Greenmarket

    rolling lane closure, mini contraflow and temporary traffic lights until midweek for BT work.

  • Brownhill Place

    closed for 5 weeks from Monday 4 December for sewer works for new housing development.

  • Finavon Place

    closed for carriageway resurfacing for its full-length from Monday 3 December for 3 days.

  • Doon Terrace

    closed for its entire length for 2 weeks commencing Wednesday 29 November for sewer works for new housing development.

  • Strathmore Avenue (at Glenmarkie Terrace)

    temporary traffic lights from Friday 1 December for one week for Scottish Water mains repair.

  • Aberlady Crescent

    closed for carriageway resurfacing on east leg from Berwick Drive commencing Monday 4 December for 10 days.

  • Charleston Drive (at Spey Drive)

    temporary traffic lights from 9.00am to 4.00pm on Monday 4 December for Clarke Telecoms work.

  • Killin Avenue (Lawside Terrace for 100m)

    closed on Monday 4 and Tuesday 5 December for BT work.

  • Seafield Lane (Thomson Street to No 21 Seafield Lane)

    closed from Monday 4 December for 7 days for Scottish and Southern Energy Network work.

  • A90 Kingsway (at Swallow roundabout)

    overnight (7.30pm to 6.30am) northbound lane closure on Tuesday 5 December for gully/ironwork repair.

  • A90 Kingsway (at Myrekirk roundabout)

    overnight (7.30pm to 6.30am) northbound lane closure on Thursday 7 December for carriageway patching.

  • Hill Street (Dundee)

    temporary traffic lights from Thursday 7 December for one week for Scottish Water work.

  • Spey Drive (at Mallaig Avenue)

    temporary traffic lights from 9.00am on Thursday 7 December to 6.00am on Friday 8 December for Scottish Water work.

    southbound lane closure on Wednesday 3 January for 7 weeks for footpath resurfacing works.

  • Barrack Street (Willison Street to South Ward Road)

    closed from Wednesday 3 January for 4 weeks for footpath resurfacing works.

  • Ballindean Road (Douglas Road to Kemnay Gardens)

    closed from Monday 8 January 2024 for 4 weeks for water and electrical connections to new development.

 


Roads - General

Planned road closures and restrictions are necessary to allow for a variety of maintenance work including resurfacing and reconstruction as well as water, sewer, electricity, gas and telecom supply/renewal/maintenance works, etc.

It may be that the Dundee City Council is not responsible for these works.  However we have a duty to inform the public of any major situation which may arise – planned or otherwise – that may affect their ability to move about the city.  We have included here a listing of road closures and major lane closures or restrictions and the contact numbers for the main utility companies in case you have a query on any specific set of roadworks.
