Riverside Household Waste Recycling Centre will re-open on Monday 22nd SeptemberThe centre has been closed since a fire broke out in the garden waste area of the composting facility two weeks ago. A clear-up operation has been underway since the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service withdrew from the facility. In the meantime, alternative recycling facilities are available at Baldovie HWRC. The recycling centre will reopen on Monday 22nd September.
However, the adjacent composting facility at Riverside will remain closed until further notice.
Riverside Discovery Compost Facility ClosureFor safety reasons, the
Riverside Discovery Compost Facility will remain closed to both the public and commercial gardeners until furher notice. During this period, we kindly ask customers to make alternative arrangements for the disposal of green waste. Additionally, we would like to remind all professional gardeners and landscapers that, as SEPA-registered waste carriers, it is your responsibility to ensure you have appropriate contingency plans in place for the legal and safe disposal of green waste. This includes identifying and using alternative licensed facilities during any disruption to regular services.
We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work to restore the facilty. Thank you for your understanding.
Dundee City Council operates the following Household Waste Recycling Centres within the city:
Summer Opening Hours - 1st April to 30th September
Both sites provide residents with the opportunity to recycle a range of household wastes free of charge. Trained operatives are on the site at all times who can provide assistance and advice as required. Your continued support is very much appreciated.
In February 2022, access was granted by Dundee City Council to allow Angus residents living in the Monifieth and Sidlaw wards only, to use Baldovie and Riverside Recycling centres. Find out more: Inter-authority waste arrangements.
