Housing Benefit - Under Occupancy
If you live in a council or housing association property and claim Housing Benefit, your entitlement may be reduced if your home is considered too large for you. The use of size criteria for under occupation is widely known as 'the bedroom tax', although it is a reduction of benefit rather than a tax we issue bills for.
Welfare Rights
The Welfare Rights Service is now part of Dundee City Council's Advice Services.

Fishing Permits
Permits are required for the Tay Estuary at Dundee if you intend to catch salmon and sea trout. The permit costs £28.75 per year and applies to all the estuary shoreline between Invergowrie Burn and the Dighty Water at Barnhill. The fishing season runs from 15th January to 15th October each year. The permits do not apply to the Port Authority area which extends eastwards from the Tay Road Bridge to the Stannergate.
