What is the Electoral Register?

The electoral register is the list of everyone who is registered to vote. You must be on the register to vote at elections. You are not automatically registered, even if you pay Council Tax. You can register to vote at any time, but you must register by 18th April, 2022 to vote at the elections on 5th May, 2022.

Who can register to vote?

  • Anyone 16 or over
  • British, Commonwealth citizens, citizens of the European Union or Foreign Nationals with the right to remain.

Am I registered to vote?

How do I register to vote?

If you are not registered or if you have recently moved house you can make an application to register.

Where do I vote?

You will receive a poll card and your polling place is detailed on it. You can also use the "Services Near Me" on the home page.

I won't be here on Polling Day so can I vote by post or have someone else vote on my behalf?
