I CIVIC GOVERNMENT (SCOTLAND) ACT 1982 - SECTION 87(1) BUILDINGS IN NEED OF REPAIR

 

The Director of Environmental and Consumer Protection reported that notices had been served on the owners of the undernoted properties requiring works to be carried out.

The Director of Environmental and Consumer Protection reported that notices had been served on the owners of the undernoted property requiring works to be carried out.

III FOOD STANDARDS AGENCY AUDIT OF DUNDEE CITY COUNCIL?S ENVIRONMENTAL AND CONSUMER PROTECTION DEPARTMENT

 

There was submitted Report No 106-2002 by the Director of Environmental and Consumer Protection advising of the outcome of the audit including the final report, executive summary, four areas of non-conformance in terms of the Framework Agreement on Local Authority Food Law Enforcement and proposed follow up action.

 

The Committee agreed to:-

 

(i)note the contents of the report, which were placed in the public domain on the Food Standards Agency Website on 7th February, 2002.

 

(ii)accept the follow up action detailed in the report to resolve the areas of non conformance.

 

IV

 

There was submitted Report No 145-2002 by the Director of Environmental and Consumer Protection requesting acceptance of the prices for the purchase of wheeled bins for a one-year period.

 

The Committee agreed to:-

 

(i)accept the offer from SSI Schaeffer for the supply of grey domestic bins (all sizes), blue paper bins (all sizes) and brown compost bins (all sizes).

 

(ii) accept the offer from Egbert Taylor for the supply of 1100 litre and 1280 litre bins.

 

V LEASE OF WHEELED LOADER

 

There was submitted Report No 130-2002 by the Director of Environmental and Consumer Protection seeking authorisation to enter into leasing arrangements for 1 wheeled loader for use at the Waste Recycling/Transfer Station at Baldovie.

 

The Committee agreed to accept an offer amounting to 54,065 for the supply of one wheeled loader from Scott JCB Ltd.

 

VI LEASE OF PEST CONTROL VANS

 

There was submitted Report No 129-2002 by the Director of Environmental and Consumer Protection seeking authorisation to enter into leasing arrangements for four vans for use in the Animal and Pest Control Section of the Environmental and Consumer Protection Department.

 

The Committee agreed to accept an offer from A M Phillips, Forfar for the supply of four vans.

 

VII BROUGHTY FERRY - ANIMAL EXCLUSION ZONE

 

There was submitted Joint Report No 124-2002 by the Directors of Environmental and Consumer Protection and Leisure and Arts on the outcome of consultation relating to the proposed extension to the Animal Exclusion Exclusion Zone at Broughty Ferry beach and seeking authorisation to obtain approval for additional signage for the beach and adjacent parks.

 

The Committee agreed to:-

 

(i)the Animal Exclusion Zone not being extended to the entire beach and that it be confined to the existing zone.

 

(ii)the Exclusion Zone being operative on a seasonal basis from 1st May to 30th September annually.

 

(iii)remit to Leisure and Arts, Park Rangers and Environmental and Consumer Protection Department, Animal Control Officers to continue to monitor and enforce management rules.

 

(iv)accept the offer received from T R L Signs, Hamilton for additional beach signage at 2,762.28.

 

(v)the beach being considered an area where owners may not permit a dog to foul, in terms of Section 48(2) of the Civic Government (Scotland) Act, 1982.

 

VIII FORMER BALDOVIE INCINERATOR DECOMMISSIONING PROJECT - TENDER RECEIVED BY CITY ENGINEER

 

There was submitted Report No 53-2002 by the City Engineer seeking acceptance of a tender received in respect of the former Baldovie Incinerator Decommissioning Project.

 

The Committee agreed to accept an offer amounting to 438,483.00, including allowances from Safedem Ltd, for the project.
