The minute of meeting of this Committee of 14th March 2005 was held as read.

I DUNDEE AIRPORT - ACQUISITION OF AIRCRAFT TOWBARS

 

The Director of Economic Development submitted Report No 241-2005 requesting approval for a proposed contract with McKechnie Aerospace, USA for the purchase of aircraft towbars and interchangeable heads.

 

The Committee agreed to the contract by McKechnie Aerospace for the acquisition, shipping, import, clearance and local delivery of an aircraft towbar and interchangeable towhead for Dundee Airport for the sum of approximately US $16,000.

 

II GRANTNET - FUNDING DATABASE

 

The Director of Economic Development submitted Report No 254-2005 informing the Committee of the launch of Grantnet which was an on-line grant information system which would be free to organisations in Dundee and could be accessed through Dundee City Council's website.

 

The Committee noted the report.

 

III TENDERS RECEIVED

 

(a) Report No 251-2005 by the Director of Economic Development.

 

The Committee agreed to accept the lowest offer by Torith Limited amounting to 64,852 including contingencies for the provision of disabled facilities and refurbishment at 16 to 20 Beauly Avenue.

 

(b) Report No 233-2005 by City Architectural Services Officer

 

(i) VARIOUS DUNDEE CITY COUNCIL PROPERTIES - SERVICE AND MAINTENANCE OF SWIMMING POOL EQUIPMENT 2005 TO 2010.

 

The Committee agreed to accept the lowest offer by Alba Pools (Brechin) amounting to 33,920 together with an allowance of 3,392 for professional services making a total expenditure of 37,312.00.

 

The Committee also noted that Morris and Spottiswood Limited, Glasgow had been listed by Alba Pools as the sub-contractor for electrical work.

 

(ii) VARIOUS DUNDEE CITY COUNCIL PROPERTIES - SERVICE AND MAINTENANCE OF AUTOMATIC DOORS 2005 TO 2010.

 

The Committee agreed to accept the lowest offer by Tayside Door and Windows Specialist, Newbigging amounting to 6,732 together with an allowance of 673.00 for professional services making a total expenditure of 7,405.

 

The Committee also noted that DC Lighting Services Limited had been listed by Tayside Door and Window Specialists as the sub-contractor for electrical work.

 

(c) VARIOUS DUNDEE CITY COUNCIL PROPERTIES - SERVICE AND MAINTENANCE CONTRACT FOR FAN CONVECTORS AND AIR CURTAINS 2005 TO 2010.

 

The Committee agreed to accept the lowest offer by Dalkia Utilities Services plc, Port Lethen amounting to 32,605.55 together with an allowance of 3,261 for professional services making a total expenditure of 35,866.55.

 

(d) VARIOUS DUNDEE CITY COUNCIL PROPERTIES - SERVICE AND MAINTENANCE CONTRACT FOR KITCHEN EQUIPMENT 2005 TO 2010.

 

The Committee agreed to accept the lowest offer by Building and Environmental Hygiene Limited amounting to 61,450 together with an allowance of 6,145 for professional services making a total expenditure of 67,595.

 

IV SCOTTISH COUNCIL DEVELOPMENT AND INDUSTRY

 

There was submitted Agenda Note AN163-2005 advising that the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities had recommended that support for the Scottish Council Development and Industry (SCDI) should be renewed for the coming year at 2,054 for Dundee.

 

The Committee agreed to continue Council membership of the SCDI for the year 2005 to 2006.

 

The Committee resolved under Section 50(A)(4) of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 that the press and public be excluded from the meeting for the undernoted items of business on the grounds that they involved the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in paragraphs 6 and 9 of Part I of Schedule 7A of the Act.

 

V COMMERCIAL LEASES

 

There was submitted and approved Report No 249-2005 by the Director of Economic Development detailing commercial leases in respect of the undernoted premises:-

VI RENT REVIEWS

 

There was submitted and approved Report No 250-2005 by the Director of Economic Development detailing the review of rent in respect of the undernoted premises:-

595-599 Charleston Drive

 

VII SITE (1.42 ACRES) AT KINGS CROSS ROAD/HAREFIELD ROAD

 

There was submitted Agenda Note AN164-2005 advising the Committee of a request to purchase the above site.

 

The Committee agreed to the sale of the site on the terms and conditions detailed.

 

VIII CNS SUBSEA LIMITED

 

There was submitted Agenda Note AN162-2005 advising the Committee of a request for funding assistance with relocation costs to the Port of Dundee.

 

The Committee approved grant support as detailed.

 

IX SENIOR AIRPORT FIRE OFFICER

 

There was submitted Agenda Note AN165-2005 giving details of changes to arrangements in the provision of the above Officer's post at Dundee Airport.

 

It was reported for the information of the Committee that a new contract had been approved by the Director of Economic Development in consultation with the Convener and Spokespersons for the Other Groups.
