We are currently making arrangements for the count for the Scottish Parliament Election taking place on Thursday 7th May 2026.
Please note that the count will take place the following day - Friday 8th May 2026 - at DISC: Dundee International Sports Centre.
There are now two constituencies which are administered by Dundee City Council:
Dundee East
Dundee West
Aberdeen City Council will declare the results for the North East Scotland Region.
Members of the media who wish to attend the count for the Scottish Parliament Election are asked to email pr@dundeecity.gov.uk with the following details:
Names of those wishing to attend the count
Organisation, publication, or broadcaster
Contact phone number(s)
Contact email address(es)
Media category – TV broadcast, radio broadcast, print and/or online, photographer
Whether broadcast vehicle access is required (please provide details)
Whether a site recce is required prior to election night. If so, this must be requested with the Communications Team by Friday 24th April
Please let us know if you require any reasonable adjustments
List of equipment and confirmation that all equipment is PAT tested
Accreditation is open from: Thursday 26 March to Thursday Friday 1st May 2026. No accreditation will be given after this time.
You must register to enter the count. If you are not accredited, you will not be given access.
Details of the count:
DISC: Dundee International Sports Centre, Mains Load, Dundee, DD4 7AA. The count will start at 9am, Friday 8th May 2026.
Other things to note:
The media centre will be on the balcony/mezzanine at DISC. The media will be allowed access to the count floor, but their equipment must remain on the balcony
The declaration will be made (by microphone) by the Returning Officer Greg Colgan
Security and health and safety will be in present at the count
All bags will be searched on arrival
There is a separate accreditation process for candidates, agents and party communication support
