Entries to the 54th Annual Photographic Competition are now welcome; entry forms can be downloaded and printed here, directly from the Dundee Photographic Society website or by contacting Dundee City Council, Neighbourhood Services on 01382 434781.
The brightest and best are set to step out from behind the lens to find out what develops in four categories.
Open to all photographers living within the boundaries of Dundee, and to all members of Dundee Photographic Society, the competitions are run every year in conjunction with Dundee City Council.
Prizes are up for grabs for first, second and third place in Colour Prints, Monochrome Prints & Projected image sections, and first, second, third and fourth place in Under 18, as well as four trophies:
- Dundee Corporation Trophy is awarded for the best three images in print and/or projected image with the highest total marks in the competition which best portray Dundee;
- Robert Saunders Trophy was presented by Messrs Robert and Ivan Saunders to commemorate their father, who was an early exponent of colour photography. It is awarded for the best projected image taken from within any park in Dundee;
- Fred Duncan Trophy was donated by Dundee Photographic Society in recognition of the photographer who, overall, obtains the highest aggregate points from projected image, monochrome and colour print sections in the open competition. This will automatically include all images submitted for the Dundee Corporation Trophy and Robert Saunders Trophy Competitions; and
- Jim Coleman Trophy is awarded for the best image taken by an Under 18.
After the prize giving ceremony on Monday 24 February an exhibition of entries will be on display in the Central Library, Wellgate Centre from 4 March until 18 March.
