Dundee City Council operates the following Household Waste Recycling Centres within the city:

Summer Opening Hours - 1st April to 30th September

Both sites provide residents with the opportunity to recycle a range of household wastes free of charge. Trained operatives are on the site at all times who can provide assistance and advice as required. Your continued support is very much appreciated.

In February 2022, access was granted by Dundee City Council to allow Angus residents living in the Monifieth and Sidlaw wards only, to use Baldovie and Riverside Recycling centres.  Find out more: Inter-authority waste arrangements.

Materials we accept

To make it easier for householders to recycle as much as possible, separate skips/containers are provided at each of the sites for specific recyclable waste types. Householders are encouraged to segregate their waste and use these facilities whenever possible.

Please Read Carefully

  • Please do not dispose of your e-Cycle, e-Scooter or e-Hoverboard in the Scrap Metal skip/container.
  • e-Cycles, e-Scooters and e-Hoverboards are classed as electrical waste.
  • In the first instance you should contact either the manufacturer or retailer of your e-Cycle/Scooter/Hoverboard.  Manufacturers & retailers should offer a free take-back scheme. More information can be found on GOV.UK for e-Cycles and e-Scooters
  • If your e-Cycle/Scooter/Hoverboard cannot be returned via a take-back scheme, they can be recycled at Riverside or Baldovie recycling centres. However, we can only accept them providing you carry out the following procedure:
  1. Prior to visiting the recycling centre, remove the lithium battery from your e-Cycle/Scooter/Hoverboard.  Due to health & safety concerns, you are not permitted to remove these at the recycling centre.
  2. Bring both your e-Cycle/Scooter/Hoverboard and the disconnected lithium battery to the recycling centre.
  3. Important - Dispose of the e-Cycle/Scooter/Hoverboard (minus the lithium battery) in the Small Domestic Appliance container/area.
  4. Important - Dispose of the lithium battery in the industrial battery box/container.
  • Ask a recycling attendant on-site if unsure.
