Cantorion - North Wales Male Chorus

Cantorion - North Wales Male Chorus Image
Cantorion Gogledd Cymru was founded in 1992 when some of North Wales' finest male choral singers came together to form a male chorus with a very special sound and quality. Their current Musical Director, Aled Wyn Edwards, has a passion for male choral singing and is keen to nurture and develop new exciting voices as well as promoting the established singers. Many of the choristers belong to their local male voice choirs but come together in Betws-y-coed, North Wales every other Sunday afternoon to rehearse and to enjoy singing with this special regional choir. If you are ever down that way, they welcome you to come and listen to the choir rehearse. (For more details of rehearsal dates and time, see www.cantoriongogleddcymru.co.uk .

They are able to present a varied programme which includes traditional male and well-known Welsh choruses, arrangements of popular songs from the musicals, one or two opera choruses as well as original items composed for the choir by their MD. They are also using the talents within the choir to provide a "full entertainment package" in their concerts with their own MC's, soloists, duettist and quartets.

The choir enjoys a busy concert schedule, being particularly proud of their achievements in recent years at the Sligo and Mayo Festivals where they won the male voice categories and were also invited to Galway to take part in their "Celtic Choral Celebration". In the past year or so they have performed at many venues in Wales as well as Shrewsbury, Chelmsford, Liverpool, Manchester, London, and on Welsh TV S4C.
