Ritualia and the Circle
Scottish Dance Theatre is back on its home stage with two audience favourites: RITUALIA and The Circle promise an exhilarating evening of dance by internationally acclaimed choreographers Colette Sadler and Emanuel Gat.
RITUALIA, by Berlin-based Scottish choreographer Colette Sadler, re-imagines Igor Stravinsky and Bronislava Nijinska's 1923 masterpiece Les Noces. Sadler's interpretation transforms the gender thematics of the original ballet by introducing the idea of androgyny as its point of departure. Evoking and celebrating the notion of hybridity, exploring iconic artificiality, presentation and fashion, RITUALIA is a thought-provoking visual feast.
Created by internationally acclaimed choreographer Emanuel Gat, The Circle is a fast-paced, highly physical and visually striking work set to a high-powered music score by electronic jazz guru, Squarepusher.
As the dancers take split-second decisions, they become writers of their own journeys and discover the work afresh before the audience's eyes every night. The work features stunning sculptural wearable art pieces by Australian designer, Thomas Bradley, upcycled from old costumes from Dundee Rep Theatre's wardrobe.
