Our desire to discover the frozen South can be traced back as far as 2,000 years ago. In his new book, Towards the Coldest Place, esteemed Polar author Michael Smith journeys through this compelling history; starting with the Ancient Greeks and ending with the dramatic climax in the 20th century race between Scott and Amundsen.
