What's On - Leng Medal Memories Get-Together

Get together to share songs and memories of the Leng Medal.

For over a hundred years, the Leng Trust has held annual Silver Medal singing competitions for Scots song, open to pupils at schools in Dundee and the surrounding area. Winners of these go on to the Gold Medal competition.

Leng Medal competitions have become an important part of Dundee's song history, and many of the city's best known voices are former winners (including Friends of Wighton's own Sheena Wellington!)

Join us to find out more about the song competitions and how the Leng Medal fits into the history of Scots song. Songs will be sung, Dr Karen McAulay will relate what happened when she innocently started asking about the Leng Scots Song Competition, and there will be the chance to share your own memories informally.
