I TENDERS RECEIVED BY CITY ENGINEER - SITE CLEARANCE - LAND AT TRANENT GROVE

 

There was submitted Report No 424-2008 by the City Engineer giving details of offers received for the above contract.

 

The Committee agreed to accept the offer from Gowrie Contracts Ltd amounting to 385,537.20, together with the undernoted allowances:-

II PURCHASE OF VEHICLES

 

There was submitted Report No 458-2008 by Head of Waste Management seeking authority for the purchase of four refuse collection vehicles and eight light tippers to be used for a range of domestic and commercial collection services within Waste Management.

 

The Committee agreed to accept the offers detailed below and to note that all of the vehicles would be procured via the Scotland-Excel framework agreement:-

III TENDERS RECEIVED

 

There was submitted Report No 471-2008 by the City Architectural Services Officer giving details of offers received for the undernoted contracts:-

 

(a) VARIOUS HOUSES - SHOWERS FOR ALL

 

The Committee agreed to accept the lowest offer by MASCO Onestep Installation Services, West Yorkshire revised to 84,410.04, together with allowances of 1,074 for CDM Co-ordinator and 13,522 for professional services, making a total expenditure of 99,006.04.

 

(b) WEDDERBURN STREET - WARDEN CALL SYSTEM REPLACEMENT

 

The Committee agreed to accept a partnering project with McGill Security, Dundee amounting to 53,152, together with allowances of 823 for CDM Co-ordinator and 5,860 for professional services, making a total expenditure of 59,835.

 

(c) POWRIE PLACE - WARDEN CALL SYSTEM REPLACEMENT

 

The Committee agreed to accept a partnering project with McGill Security Ltd, Dundee amounting to 42,565, together with allowances of 725 for CDM Co-ordinator and 4,756 for professional services, making a total expenditure of 48,046.

 

(d) MAINS OF FINTRY 1ST, 2ND, 3RD AND 4TH DEVELOPMENTS - KITCHEN AND BATHROOM RENEWAL

 

The Committee agreed to accept a partnering project with Dundee Contract Services amounting to 620,600, together with the undernoted allowances:-

IV WEST KIRKTON 1ST DEVELOPMENT COTTAGES - KITCHEN AND BATHROOM RENEWAL - EXTENSION TO CONTRACT

 

On a reference to Article V of the minute of meeting of this Committee of 24th March, 2008, the City Architectural Services Officer submitted Report No 472-2008 requesting approval to extend the existing contract with Dundee Contract Services.

 

The Committee agreed to extend the existing contract and incur estimated additional expenditure of approximately 107,100.

 

V AIR QUALITY - PLANNING FOR THE FUTURE CONFERENCE

 

There was submitted Agenda Note AN180-2008 advising that the Air Quality - Planning for the Future Conference would take place on 23rd September, 2008 at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, Glasgow. The conference had been organised by Environmental Protection UK and would bring together leading experts and stakeholders involved in meeting the challenging air quality targets that had been set in Scotland. The delegate fee for this Conference was 75.

 

Following consultation with the Convener and appropriate Group Spokespersons, the Head of Environmental Health and Trading Standards authorised the attendance of the Depute Convener of the Housing, Dundee Contract Services and Environment Services Committee at the Conference.
