The minutes of the Town Council of Dundee which are still in existence do not bear an earlier date than 1552, but as the names of Provosts and Baillies were usually entered in the 'Lockit
There are a number of historical records held in Archives pertaining to the built environment which provide a better understanding of when buildings were built or altered and with the housing surveys, also gives a clear indication to their condition.
Dundee City Archives hold a collection of acquired maps and plans. We also hold plans that were used by the City Engineer and other officials.
