An insight into the process of writing a first book, getting published, and the journey to a physical publication is given, by first time author Jennifer S Read. Talking about her crime novel ‘The Masked Threat’, set in Venice during Carnevale, she will also give three short readings from the novel. She will be open to questions from the floor. There will be an opportunity for book signing too.

Bio: Jennifer S Read was born in Yorkshire in 1972. She trained as a woven textile designer and came to live in Scotland, initially just outside Dunblane, in 2002. Jenny began writing fiction in 2023, when she created a spoof murder mystery for a friend's birthday. She realised that she enjoyed the process and began her first serious writing project in 2024. 'The Masked Threat', set in Venice during Carnevale, explores the theme of mass tourism’s effect on the unique city of canals. As well as writing, Jenny is an artist, (the cover art on the book is one of her paintings) She also teaches Art and also works for the contemporary Scottish Interior brand, Time and Tide.
