Abstract 45: Improving Police Practice in the Investigation and Search for Missing People
Professor Penny Woolnough will explore how behavioural and psychological profiling is helping to improve the investigation and search for missing people, an issue that affects around 300,000 reported cases across the UK each year. Drawing on her research in forensic and investigative psychology, she will discuss how evidence-based approaches can support police decision-making and search strategies. She will be joined by Sergeant Dr Lorna Dennison-Wilkins, a serving police officer with more than 27 years of operational experience, who will share real-world examples of how this research is applied in practice and how it has contributed to saving lives.
