School Streets

School Streets (School Exclusion Zones)

Dundee City Council has introduced School Exclusion zones across the city as a part of the Active Travel initiative and Spaces for People programme. Parents, residents and pupils have been reporting on-going road safety issues created by individuals bringing their vehicles too close to school gates.

Benefits of School Streets

  • There will be less road danger from traffic
  • Less inconsiderate parking outside of residents homes and fewer dangerous manoeuvres on the streets surrounding the school.
  • An increase of Active Travel through walking, cycling and scooting to and from school.
  • The reduction of vehicles will create less congestion and improve air quality.
