Callum Webster will speak about the history of Broughty Ferry and its mansions, as well as revealing fascinating stories about the people who lived in them. Hear about the villa named after a Russian palace, the lady who bequeathed an armchair to the Queen Mother, and the merchant involved in a major jute fraud who evaded capture. Callum is the author of the book Of Mansions & Mariners the tale of Broughty Ferr which charts the story of over 360 villas in the town. His other works include Wha s in a Name? A street history of Broughty Ferr and Wha s in a Name? A street history of Monifiet .

Doors open from12.30pm at the Glasite Hall on King Street. Please enter from the churchyard or the east side of the building (the lift is available from both sides but the accessible door is at the east entrance).

Tea, coffee and biscuits will be available to purchase before the talk.
