Want to better understand our planet? Come along to hear from local scientists and their work on – Decoding Nature’s Code! Starting off with understanding plant development to improve our food from the field and prepare us for a changing climate. We will then hear shorter ‘Shots of Science’ on how we can protect mangrove ecosystems using local and scientific knowledge, and how strawberries can remember stress!
We'll be joined by the following speakers:
- Dr Sarah McKim (Reader in Plant Sciences), 'How does Barley Grow and Develop?'
- Maggie Finlayson-Sykes (PhD Student at the University of Dundee), 'Tropical Mangroves and How to Protect Them'
- Pedro Nadais (PhD student), 'Strawberry Fields Forever - How to Engineer Strawberries to Survive Environmental Stresses'.
- Dr Simon Cook (Senior Lecturer in Environmental Sciences), 'Glacier Shrinkage and Growth'.
